HISTORY

The origin of Metsäavain Ltd. lies in a one-man company founded by Forester Petteri Mönkkönen in 2013. Petteri began working with good old manual forestry work and forest planning. Thanks to excellent service, assignments quickly expanded to the field of timber trade negotiations with landowners. Soon Petteri realized that employees are needed from various parts of Finland to answer the ever-growing demand from the customers.

In 2019, Petteri invited two young forestry professionals, Akseli Juurinen and Antti Nevalainen, to join the company. Akseli, skilled in programming, began coding in-house solutions both for Petteri and client companies. Antti, specialized in geospatial data, photogrammetry, and machine vision applications, brought in a whole new area of technological expertise that was implemented for the company offer. The innovation team Petteri-Akseli-Antti generated some of their best ideas around a campfire in the wilderness. After some successful client cases, Petteri invited Akseli and Antti to join the board and become partners.

Today Metsäavain has over 30 professionals working around Finland. But not just in Finland. In the early summer of 2023, the daughter company Skogsnyckeln AB (www.skogsnyckeln.eu) was launched in Sweden.
